THE BAHRAIN AWARD FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP, ANNOUNCES NAMES OF FINALISTS

The Organising Committee of The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship announced the names of the finalists for the Award, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Chairman of Economic Development Board.

Three finalists were selected per Award category, as follows:
 
Micro-Enterprise of the Year:  Nasreen Ashkanani – Popilicious, Alia Khalid Almoayed – Alia Almoayed Nutrition Consultancy and Fatema  Ahmed Al Zayyani – 3DOTs Company; 

Start-Up of the Year: Shaikh Mohammed Al Khalifa & Aysha  Al Araifi – Bossy Kitchen, Khalifa Abdulla Al Mannai –  Mannai Technological Facilitations W.L.L. and Dr. Sara Moemen Al Reefy – London Breast Care Centre; 

SME of the Year: Dr. Lamya Ahmed Mahmood – Dr. Lamyas Laser Specialist Dental Center, Nada Alawi Shubbar Isa –  Annada e-Commerce Trading and Sama Mohamed Hussain Yateem – SY Enterprises;

Enterprise of the Year with International Footprint: Ammar Basheir – Ammar Basheir Designs, Mohamed Mustafa Rafea – Midal Cables Ltd. and Bader Yousif Murad – Bader Models;

Sustainable Business Award: Amal Y. Almoayyed – Ashrafs W.L.L., Hala  Almoayyed – Almoayyed Contracting Group and Khulood Abdul Qader – Curve Jewellery.

Mr. Faisal Sultan, Project Manager of The Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship said, “The finalists per category stood out from 35 applicants who made it to the semi-final round, after conducting presentations pertaining to their business and entrepreneurial vision to the Technical Committee comprising of the Award’s strategic partners and knowledge advisors conducted by Tamkeen, Bahrain Development Bank, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Tourism, EY Bahrain and UNIDO AICEI.”

Mr. Sultan added, “The finalists on all Award categories were subjected to a criteria-based performance evaluation by the Technical Committee, through a series of presentations, interviews and assessment of all supporting documents submitted.“

Mr. Sultan also stated, “The Female Entrepreneur of the Year award will be awarded to the highest-scoring female entrepreneur for her outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship.  The winner of this category will be selected from the list of finalists upon receipt of final scores from the international jury members, and provided she is not a winner in the other categories. The Lifetime Achievement Award, will be awarded to a Bahraini entrepreneur for pioneering efforts and contributions of long-standing merit to the community and entrepreneurship.”

The members of the international jury presiding over the final round is comprised of notable entrepreneurs: Her Excellency Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Executive Director of INJAZ Bahrain and Chairperson of Al Salam Bank; Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, CEO of Alfa International and founder and Creative Director of luxury handbag brand Baraboux; Mrs. Anvita Varshney, Chief Operating Officer MEA for Naspers Group; Mr. Dave McClure, Founding Partner of 500 Startups; Mr. Habib Haddad, Co-Founder and CEO of Wamda; Mr. Kushal  Shah, Regional Managing Partner of Roland Berger;  Mr. Mohammed ElSayed, Marketing Director of Deutsche Telecom; Ms. Nina Curley, Founding Member of WAIN; Mr. Tarek Amin, Serial Entrepreneur, Mentor and Angel Investor; Mr. Tony Bury, Founder of Mowgli Foundation; Mr. Peter Wong Man Kong, Chairman of a number of companies in Hong Kong and China and Executive Chairman of China Chamber of Tourism; and Mr. Anjan Das, Executive Director of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
