An initiative launched by the Ministry of Labour in partnership with Tamkeen, to enable Bahraini jobseekers to pursue freelancing as a sustainable career path.

About the Program
Launched by the Ministry of Labour in partnership with Tamkeen, this initiative aims to enable Bahraini jobseekers to engage in freelance work by providing a dedicated pathway that supports them in obtaining a virtual commercial registration (Sijili), while offering monthly incentive support for one year to help freelancers establish and grow their careers.

Eligibility Criteria
- Individual must be a Bahraini national
- Must hold a valid Virtual Commercial Registration at the time of application from MOIC or an active license from the relevant regulatory authority
- Must not have violations from Tamkeen, LMRA, or any other relevant government entity
- Must have a bank account under the virtual CR (Sijili) name
- The Commercial Registration must be the first one issued under the applicant’s name
- Must have been previously registered as a Jobseeker with the Ministry of Labour
- Must have less than 12 months of cumulative work experience as reflected in SIO records
- Must be registered with the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) as a business owner (through optionalins@sio.gov.bh), with a declared monthly income of at least BHD 450.
- Applications must be submitted within 6 months of CR creation
- Each individual is eligible for support only once
- Applicants must not exceed 45 years of age at the time of application.

Support Mechanism
We will support freelancers by providing financial incentives (for a 12 month duration) and through covering the issuance and activation of their Commercial Registration (Sijili)
This includes:
- Financial Incentive Support
We will cover a monthly incentive of BHD 200 for a duration of 12 months, we will also cover Social Insurance Registration costs for the duration of 12 months - Commercial Registration (Sijili) Issuance and Activation Support
We will cover BHD 178 to support the issuance and activation of the Commercial Registration (CR), including up to three activities.

How do I register with the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) as a business owner?
To register as a business owner under the SIO optional insurance scheme, please submit your registration request by emailing optionalins@sio.gov.bh. Your registration must include a declared monthly income of at least BHD 450 to meet the eligibility requirements for this initiative.

What are the steps required after obtaining the support approval?
After receiving the approval, you will need to provide confirmation on the program’s terms and conditions and submit payment requests when they are due on a monthly basis through the portal.

Commercial Registration Issuance: a payment request can be submitted upon approval and confirmation of the application.
