Tamkeen Mobile App Privacy Policy

Introduction 

This privacy policy (“Policy”) outlines how the Labour Fund (“Tamkeen” ‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’) will collect, use, share and otherwise process your personal data in connection with your use of: 

  • Tamkeen Bahrain mobile application available on Google Play Store and Apple Store (“App). 
  • Any of our services that are accessible through the App (“Services”), unless such Services are governed by a separate or additional privacy policy. 

Please read the following carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it. 

Who We Are 

Tamkeen is the controller and is responsible for the lawful processing of and security of your personal data.

Changes to the Policy and your duty to inform us of changes 

We keep our Policy under regular review, and accordingly, our Policy may be subject to changes from time to time at Tamkeen’s sole discretion. 

This version was last updated on 11 February 2026. Any amendments to this Policy will be posted on this page. The new Policy may be displayed on-screen and you  may be required to read and acknowledge the changes to continue your use of the App or the Services. 

It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us. Please visit the Contact Details section of your Profile to update your details. 

Third party links and sites 

Our App and Services may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of third parties. Please note that these websites (and any services accessible through them) are controlled by those third parties and are not covered by this Policy. You should review their own privacy policies to understand how they use your personal data before you submit any personal data to these websites or use these services. 

The data we collect about you 

For the purposes of providing you with the Services, we may need to collect, use, store and transfer all or part of your personal data, including: 

a)     Identity Data: full name, gender, nationality, date of birth, title, username or similar identifier, photograph and/or video. 

b)     Contact Data: contact and address details including telephone numbers and email addresses. 

c)     Education Data. 

d)     Employment Data: employment letter, designation, hiring date and training provider acceptance letter (if applicable). 

e)     Identification Data: identification numbers issued by government bodies (for example: CPR, passport copy, driver’s license number and other government-issued identity numbers) and biometric data where required. 

f)      Financial Data: including  copy of salary slip or income statement, IBAN online verification and bank account information, financial transactions and status. 

g)     Voice and video recording through customer services. 

h)     Technical and Usage Data: internet protocol (IP) address, login data, date and duration of website visit, pages visited, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operation system and platform, and other technology on devices used to access the App. 

i)      Profile Data: username and password, preferences, feedback and survey responses. 

j)      Marketing and Communications Data: preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences. 

  1. k) LocationData:Country, city and precise geolocation data. 

We also collect, use and share aggregated data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated data could be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data under applicable law as this data will not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. If this changes, i.e. aggregated data is connected or combined with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we will treat the combined data as personal data used in accordance with this Policy. 

Where required by law to collect your personal data or under the terms and conditions of a contract between us, you fail to provide the personal data requested, Tamkeen may not be in the position to provide the Services. 

How is your personal data collected? 

We collect your personal data in the following way: 

  • Registration. We collect your Identity Data and Contact Data when you register your account with us. 
  • Communications. When you communicate with us via email, telephone, one of our online forms or chat we collect your Contact Data. If you contact us through the App using the chat function, we also collect [Device and Cookies Data] to operate our chat function and respond to your messages. If the communication relates to an error or problem you are having with the App or one of our Services, we will also collect [Usage Data] for diagnosis and improvement. 
  • Information you generate when using our App and Services. Each time you access and use our App and Services we collect Content, Device, Cookies, Personalisation and Usage Data. We collect Content Data where you upload it to the App. We collect Device, Cookies, Personalisation and Usage Data using cookies and other similar technologies. Please see our Cookie Policy for further details. 
  • Information we collect through monitoring the use of our App, Sites and Services. Each time you access and use our App and Services we collect information about that access and use, being Device, Content, Cookies, and Usage Data. 
  • Additional information we otherwise collect through our App, Sites and Services where we have your consent to do so. Where you provide your consent, we collect your Location Data when your device permission is enabled while you have the App installed on your device. 
  • Information we receive from third parties and publicly available sources. We will receive personal data about you from the third parties and public sources set out below: 
  • Device and Cookies Data from analytics providers being Google Analytics ; 
  • Identity and Contact Data from Faceki and IGA (through E-Key) and publicly available sources. 
  • Indirectly from your employers, external agencies coordinators, partner entities, through Tamkeen’s social media platforms and website, and/or by fetching your personal data from governmental entities or financial institutions e.g. Ministry of Labour (MOL), Ministry of and Social Development (MOSD), Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Social Insurance Organization (SIO), Ministry of Education (MoE), Tawasul Portal, National Bureau for Revenue (NBR), the Benefit Company (Benefit), Central Informatics Organisation, Ministry of Justice, Customs Affairs, Information and eGovernment Authority and/or any other relevant authority/governmental organisation.  

Cookies 

We use cookies (small files placed on your device) and Google Analytics on the App to improve your experience and our development of the App and our Services. Purpose of processing your personal data 

We will only use your personal data when we have a lawful basis to do so. Most commonly we will use your personal data in the following circumstances: 

  • Consent. Where you have freely consented to the processing in a specific, informed and unambiguous indication manner. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. 
  • Performance of a contract. Where we need to process your personal data to perform our obligations under a contract with you or where you ask us to take steps before we enter into a contract with you. Where we rely on performance of a contract and you do not provide the necessary information, we will be unable to fulfil our contractual obligations. 
  • Legitimate interests. Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests. We make sure we consider and balance any potential impact on you and your rights before we process your personal data for our legitimate interests.  
  • Legal obligation. Where we need to use your personal data to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation. Where we rely on legal obligation and you do not provide the necessary information, we may be unable to comply with our obligations towards you, or we may need to take additional steps, such as informing a government authority or applying for a court order. 

Disclosures of your personal data 

We may share your personal data with the following third parties: 

  • The Apple Appstore and Android Google Play Store and mobile network operator to allow you to install the App. 
  • Regulators, law enforcement, government authorities or other third parties based in Bahrain where necessary to exercise our rights or comply with a legal obligation. 

Data security 

Your personal data is protected under the relevant laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Tamkeen has put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, altered, disclosed or accessed in an unauthorized way.  

Data retention 

Tamkeen retains your personal data based on the validity of a contract, legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting retention period requirements, fulfilling its intended purposes, and historical archiving. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you. Subject to the retention periods described above, we securely destroy and erase or anonymize your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) to ensure that it cannot be restored after exceeding the retention period. You will no longer be notified if Tamkeen uses the anonymized data for research and statistical purposes.  

Should there be any requests for amendment to personal data, objection to processing or withdrawal beyond the prescribed retention periods, Tamkeen will not be able provide you with the Services.  

Your legal rights 

You have the right to request: 

  1. Access to your personal data.
  2.  Rectification/modification or correction to your personal data. 
  3. Remove, block or restrict your personal data. 
  4. Object if your personal data is being used for direct marketing
  5. Object if processing may result in defamation or discrimination causing possible financial or moral damage. 
  6. Object if your personal data is being used for decisions based on automated data processing and request that another method is adopted. 
  7. Withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data in cases where you have provided your consent. 

Tamkeen shall process such requests free of any charges within a period of 10 working days from receipt of the request in accordance with applicable laws. You have the right to lodge a complaint to the Bahrain Personal Data Protection Authority regarding related violations concerning the processing/use of your personal data. 

Description of categories of personal data 

  • Identity Data: first name, last name, title, date of birth and Profile Data. 
  • Contact Data: first name, last name, contact address, email address and telephone numbers, your communication preferences and copies of the communications between you and us. 
  • Profile Data: your email address, username and password. 
  • Device Data: the type of device you use, mobile network information, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile browser you use, IP address and time zone setting. 
  • Content Data: information that you store in the App, being photos, videos and associated metadata, and messages. 
  • Usage Data: logs and detail of your use of our Apps and Services, being the dates and times on which you download, access and update the App and our Services, any error or debugging information, and the actions we and you take in relation to them and Cookies Data. 
  • Security Data: information we collect about your use of the App, our Services and our Sites in order to ensure your and our other users’ safety and security, being Usage Data, the Cookies Data generated and the information provided to us by our payment processing provider. 
  • Cookies Data: the information collected through the cookies and similar technologies listed in our Cookies Policy available here https://www.tamkeen.bh/en/a-cookies/. 
  • Location Data: given the Device permission provided, your current location as disclosed by GPS technology WiFi connections and your IP address  for the time period where you have permitted us to collect it. 
  • Connected Data: information stored on your Device that you permit the App to connect to, being login information. 
  • Feedback Data: your feedback and survey responses. 
  • Personalisation Data: Cookies Data, Device Data, Content Data, Transaction Data, Connected Data, Social Media Data, Usage Data, Location Data, and the preferences we have inferred you have and use to personalise the App and Services,the preferences noted in your account.
