30 Teams Qualify for the Finals in Youth Business Plan Award “Mashroo3i

Thirty teams have qualified for the finals of the 5th edition of ‘Mashroo3i’ Youth Business Awards.

“Mashroo3i” is an annual competition launched by the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” to present the Bahraini youth an equal opportunity to gain practical experience and skills in entrepreneurship. The competition affords the youth an opportunity to understand business planning and prototypes as a guide to start their own business. 

As part of the Award’s program, the participating teams completed eight mentorship sessions with their mentors at the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Finance (BIBF) which provided them with guidance and knowledge necessary to progress through the Business Planning phase of the competition. The teams were able to progress to the next stage after presenting their business plans to the judging panel which included Mr. Safa Sharif, EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization) Regional Chair of Middle East Africa and Pakistan, Mr. Yasin Aboudaoud, Chief Development Officer & General Manager, Brinc MENA, Mr. Paul Lalley, Head of Products, Brinc Bahrain as well as Mr. Mohamed Al Alawi, Manager of Financial & Business Services, Media & ICT at Tamkeen.

During the past phase the contestants also attended several workshops covering various topics such as Creating a Market Strategy for Startups delivered by Mrs. Eman Burashed, Legal Issues for Startups by Ms. Hanan Al Mawla, Financial Planning by Ms. Emma Mansoori, Business Plan Writing Clinic by Mr. Eyad Ebrahim, and Pitching Tips Lecture by Mrs. Hala Sulaiman.

As part of their preparation for the final competition, the qualified teams will work closely with their mentors for a period of six weeks to develop their project prototype which will be displayed at the project exhibition to be held in Seef Mall end of February 2019.

Through the support and development of the participants’ skills, Mashroo3i is a national platform targeting Bahraini Youth who aspire to start their own businesses and enter the field of entrepreneurship. Through instilling entrepreneurial values in participants and providing them with the necessary tools to transform their ideas into feasible business plans, Mashroo3i contributes towards the development of a generation of Bahraini youth capable of contributing to the Kingdom’s economy.
